## [[Takahara Kumano-jinja (高原熊野神社)]] | Nakahechi 4 | [[Jujo-oji (十丈王子)]]

> [!NOTE] Daimon-Oji remains
> The name of this shrine does not appear in records made in the Middle Ages. Presumably, the name derives from the fact that in the past, a large torii gate of the [[Attractions/Kumano Hongu Taisha (熊野本宮大社)|Kumano Hongu Shrine]] was located nearby ("Daimon" means large gate"). In 1109, Fujiwara Munetada, on his pilgrimage to [[Attractions/Kumano Hongu Taisha (熊野本宮大社)|Kumano]], stayed near the shrine, in a shed with a drinking fountain. In 1201, Fujiwara Teika also slept in the open at a place nearby.
