> [!NOTE] The cherry tree Hidehira Zakura
> These cherry trees said to have grown from a twig planted by Hidehira Fujiwara member of the powerful Fujiwara clan from Oshu. While on pilgrimage to [[Attractions/Kumano Hongu Taisha (熊野本宮大社)|Kumano]], his wife gave birth to a child in a cave [[Takijiri-oji (滝尻王子)|Takijiri]]. Leaving the child behind in the cave, the parents planted a twig they had brought along as a walking stick, to pray for the child's well-being. These particular trees have been here in front of [[Tsugizakura-oji (継桜王子)|Tsugizakura-oji Shrine]] since the late 19th century. The trees lining the left side of the road are mentioned in the 1109 Chuyuki journal of Munetada Fujiwara.
